- When am I?: Discussion Board Activity
- Each student will participate by choosing a time of interest and giving clues of important mathematical achievements and people to help classmates 'find them'.
- Presentation
- Each person or small group will make a presentation showing how a particular culture helped improve mathematics to where it is now.

- Discuss the different time periods that influenced the topics in Mathematics
- Discuss the impact of different cultures on Mathematics
When am I?: Additional Details
Choose a century that you like the best. Tell a few things that happened in mathematical history during that time, and why you chose it. Do not tell which century you chose.
Each student will also have to respond to her classmate's posts trying to figure out the period of each post. The students will be able to help each other providing additional clues or discuss the topics further as needed. Students will also be able to ask questions to help gather additional information.

- Students will email the facilitator their best guesses, along with any references used as soon as they think they know the answer.
- Grading
- Students will be assessed points based on how many clues posted by the date stamp on the email, and how many correctly guessed locations/time periods.
Presentation: Additional Details
Students will choose a culture that influenced mathematics and create a presentation showing how that culture improved mathematics.
Students may use powerpoint, record a video or develop a web based presentation, using the text and outside resources for this assignment.
